Top-Down Visual Processing

When designing everyday objects like a vase or a lamp it is hard to provoke a second look. Here the designer worked in relation with the negative space around the object to provoke that sensation that there is something more. At first glance your eyes focus on only the brightest colors which is the white vase. Then when you look at it for awhile faces appear in the negative space. Which is intriguing to look at and may invoke interest in the piece. The image itself is designed so your eyes follow a certain path.
